		<description>I don&#039;t know if you ever saw Hitchcock&#039;s Dial M for Murder in 3D, but I was amazed that he used back projection, which totally killed the illusion whenever it was used.  It was so obviously flat compared to whatever elements were on the set.

It sounds like the matte paintings you mention suffered from the same problem.</description>
